Ascending: Highlights of our mission in action
After providing programs for Windsor youth for several months, Ascend staff decided that to better serve its youth, two groups needed to be created. Therefore, middle and high school youth are being served separately to focus on their individual age specific needs. Although all of our youth participate in the same programs we tailor activities based on their developmental progress. For example, we have created a partnership with Sage Park Middle School where we utilize a class room on a weekly bases to implement our programs. This relationship has resulted in increased participation rates, increased knowledge gains, and connection to the school that translates to our participants increased social behaviors. Our high school youth have strengthened their relationship with their peers in the program. This has allowed depth of program service on their level that was not possible when serving all youth as one. With this model adjustment we expect to see continued increased results for our participants.
